Solr integration
I found out that you already installed Solr on the server, but could you guys give us feedback on how to integrate it on Magento CE? With the default settings and Solr extension from Jeroen Vermeulen I was unable to connect to the Solr settings.
You can now start using SOLR on our Excellence plans!

Hi voters, are you happy with our Sphinx solution or do you still want us to install Solr? Please let us know!

So, Sphinx it is. http://hypernode.uservoice.com/forums/242854-hypernode/suggestions/6789502-sphinx-deamon. Can you all work with that? Please let us know in the comment field!

Thanks for all who've voted. We're currently considering implementing either Sphinx or Solr. Would you have any arguments AGAINST Sphinx? Arguments in favor of Sphinx are: lower memory footprint, no extra PHP modules required, simpler architecture so fewer moving parts to maintain. And to our current understanding, it provides the same functionality as Solr w.r.t. Magento.

You can also take a look at Blast Lucene Search. Which also adds a better search engine

It is not currently on our development roadmap, but it is something that has come up before. If we do offer it, I imagine it will be offered as an paid add-on service.

Thanks for the comment. Are there any plans for Solr or a similar service for better search indexing and faster search queries?

We will certainly support better search at some point. At the moment, there is no SOLR server, but that might change:)
