Pre-configure TZ environment variable for bash shell and ftp
People not very shell-shavvy often get confused by the timezone settings. The default .bash_profile could contain:
export TZ='Europe/Amsterdam'
Or have a first-run mechanism / setup asking for timezone preference.
For FTP this is even more crucial. After changing back to normal time (as opposed to Daylight Savings) I had to explain to a client why offset changed from 2 to 1 hours. This wasn't easy. If possible this would be something configurable in the hypernode control panel.
Sorry Melvyn, as we have users from several timezones, it’s not possible to hardcode these settings in the global basrc. You can however add it to your .basrc or .profile on your hypernode.
