AntiVirus and malware scan premium
Install the Antivirus and Malware scan from Willem de Groot premium.
the version that is now on github https://github.com/gwillem/magento-malware-scanner by Willem is not the latest version. Willem wants to hang a subscription for this, so please check it! There was a Malware present today which was discovered by the premium scan of Willem on November 15th!
6 votesWe’ve added more recent signatures and will continually update. When Willem de Groot’s subscription service is ready, we might change this into a paid product. But for now, please enjoy the free, enhanced scanner.

Secure publicly accessible MySQL port
Currently the MySQL server port is wordwide accessible. I'd rather have it's traffic firewalled but if that's not possible, at the very least an application that guards against brute-force password attacks, like sshguard or fail2ban.
Ideally, a publicly accessible protocol should enforce SSL/TLS.5 votesCompleted! You can manage your firewall whitelist through our service panel.

Do not set a default MAGE_RUN_CODE for easier migration/deployment
We just deployed a site on the hypernode platform and noticed we got a 404 in the default Magento template on every url. Turns out we have a non-default store (view) code, meaning there was a mismatch between Byte's default "default" and our store code. This lead to Magento routing every request to a non-existing store, which leads to 404's.
I would propose that you don't set any MAGERUNCODE by default at all and let Magento decide to route the request to which store. Magento does not expect MAGERUNCODE to be set, except for the purpose…

Document FastCGI params set in /etc/nginx/phphandler.conf
Since it's not readable, at the very least I'd like to know the fastcgi_params passed, so I can determine when to include it. I'd also need to know the location blocks used. In fact, thinking about it, I don't know why it's not readable to the app user.

Using git-flow to automate your git branching workflow
Vincent Driessen's branching model is a git branching and release management strategy that helps developers keep track of features, hotfixes and releases in bigger software projects. This workflow has lot of commands to type and remember, though, so there's also the git-flow library of git subcommands that helps automate some parts of the flow to make working with it a lot easier.

Public accessible test environment for continuous integration
I would like to be able to do our building / compiling of Magento 2 shops on the Hypernode platform as an extra step. This way we could also implement end-to-end testing prior before deploying to master/public.
Currently we use our staging environment as a preview environment for our client, but it would also be nice if we could have an environment where our continuous integration server could build and run their tests on.
3 votesWe now have development plans available for this: https://www.byte.nl/hosting/otap

A way to increase the hash_map size
When working with a map to redirect certain URLs the map size might not be sufficient. In nginx you can use maphashbucket_size to increase the size. This command can only occur once in the nginx configuration. Since this is already used in a part of the configuration which we can't edit, we don't have the ability to increase the size to suit our needs.
By allowing an increased size we'll be able to use our maps as we do on other nginx servers.

Higher timeouts in the Magento backend
Magento may require higher timeouts in the backend then it does in the frontend. Such as for imports/exports, generating reports, etc.
The timeout in the backend should be raised, while the timeout in the frontend should be lowered since it's not necessary to set a timeout this high.
My idea: raise the timeout for the backend to 3600s and change the timeout in the frontend to a normal 30s.
3 votesThis can be done using .user.ini for php settings and http and or server includes in /data/web/nginx for nginx.

MailHog/MailCatcher for Hypernode development plans
It would be a good idea to make MailHog or MailCatcher available on the Hypernode development plans. This makes testing functions that involve e-mails a lot easier.
3 votesMailHog is now available as a part of your Hypernode. All the mail sent by the Hypernode will be caught to make sure there are no problems with Magento. See the changelog on how to start using it. https://support.hypernode.com/changelog/release-6958-mailhog-on-hypernode/
